Traveling through the USA and Canada, I encountered many abandoned houses, fuel stations and factories, often in a deplorable state after years of dilapidation and vacancy. In Europe, these kind of structures are most of the times replaced or demolished and removed. I once was in need of fuel while driving an interstate and saw a board that announced a fuel station at the next exit. However, the fuel station appeared to be abandoned, only none found it necessary to remove the board. These abandoned structures are, however, a fantastic subject for photography.
During my recent trip through the Deep South States, I encountered near the small village of Roxie in the state of Mississippi the abandoned railroad and bridge shown in the gallery above. In my opinion, the photos wok best in B&W.
