Cemetery in New Orleans

During a recent trip to New Orleans, I visited the catholic St Louis Cemetery # 3 at Esplanade Avenue near City Park. In the ground burial of deceased people is not possible in New Orleans due to high groundwater levels. The entire city of New Orleans is located below sea level and below the Mississippi river water levels. As result, all cemeteries in the New Orleans area consist of mostly of large tombs that hold place for multiple coffins. The gallery above shows a series of photos that I made at the St Louis Cemetery # 3. I think black and white with a hint of vintage works well to display the atmosphere at the cemetery.
